major gpa vs overall gpa?

I'm a bit confused as to the exact definitions of these terms.
Does major gpa apply to only the classes you're required to take? What if you take some major classes in place of general electives? They're certainly not required but they are part of your major.
I'm an EE right now, but does major gpa apply to only EE courses? What about the core math/science courses that we're required to take?
In addition, I AP'ed out of all my gen reqs so I've been taking major classes right from the start. Would it look better to say my current gpa is my major or my overall gpa?

Typically math courses are not included, neither are physics. Just engineering classes. At Texas A&M all my Civil courses count toward my major GPA, as well as Mechanical Engineering Thermo which I’m taking and my ENGR CAD courses.

Just list one GPA on a resume and explain to an employer what the deal is.
