I am at a community college now and would like to transfer to

UChicago
Harvard
Brown
UPenn
Stanford
NYU
and a few others

as a mathematics major. How much math do I need to have taken? Are there specific major-related courses I should be taking during my two years at a cc before transferring or are the basic General ED requirements going to be sufficient? THank you very much!

usually you would only need to complete the four required courses to transfer. A1 A2 A3 and B4 of the ge requirements. Make sure you complete those courses and all of your major pre reqs.

^^This is a good tool, but only for CA publics.

Google the names of the colleges and ‘math major’, you should be able to get to a webpage that gives requirements for math majors at that school, as well as descriptions of classes. These should give you a good idea of what courses are necessary, and what level you should be at by the time you enter as a jr transfer. For instance:

assist.org makes it clear for uc’s- thanks!

entomom- i am not too sure where I am expected to be as an incoming junior in terms of math classes with that page, but thank you!

Do you think if I finish Calc III by the spring before fall transfer, I will have completed what is necessary of an incoming junior for math major?
