Major in Chemistry vs. Chemical Biology

I'm an entering freshman in the CoC, and my parents want me to major in chemical biology instead of chemistry as i had intended
however, it does make sense since i am also interested in pharmacology

problems:
- i really don't want to have to deal with more pre-med kids killing the curve. majoring in chem is hard enough
- i've never taken ap biology, and the only bio course i've ever taken is an easy one in hs, soph year. so, for all i know, i could suck at it.

i know i don't declare for a while, but it is worth it to risk my gpa by taking MCB and bio courses? or should i just stick to chem?

CoC is a gpa killer even more so than mcb.

then pure chem is less* of a gpa killer?
at this point, i’m really into chem, so i definitely want to stay in CoC
is there any advantage to chem bio?

Oh. wait. if you’re not in premed. then nothing. chem bio majors are great.
