<p>Not to be bragging or anything, but I don’t have any problems imitating any accent of any language. I can recite the Qur’an (the Muslims’ holy book) fluently with an Arabian accent and I’m not even an Arab.</p>
<p>Well, colleges don’t teach just to get you up to “where’s the bathroom?” They usually get you reading in those languages, as soon as you’ve got the basics down.</p>
<p>But college, even with study abroad, won’t make you “fluent.” You won’t have the language skills to actually transact business in the foreign language, even fully digest a newspaper, much less read, critique and write significant complex documents. Some of those skills come from specialty programs, eg, for the govt. </p>
<p>So, take what interests you, get internships that serve as a first step on your resume, enjoy it. Good luck.</p>
