Major in Linguistics

<p>I'm a sophomore. I'm really passionate about languages, how they work and what links them all together so I've considered taking Linguistics as a major. But since we're not taught linguistics in high school, I have no idea if I will actually like the course! </p>

<p>Can anyone recommend a couple ways I can get a feel for the course? (apart from summer programs, please...) Maybe someone could recommend a couple books that introduce the basic concepts of Linguistics? </p>
