(This was originally posted in the Music forum, on advice I'm posting it here as well.)

I'm heading towards my freshman year at The University of Texas to study vocal performance at the Butler School. For this, I am thoroughly excited. In the same vein though, I feel like I am letting go of my love for performing in the theatre. I'm not interested in pursuing MT, and neither is my voice (it just doesn't fit MT), right now.

Anyone w/ experience in the UT theatre/music programs who can speak to this would be greatly appreciated. As are ALL comments and suggestions: Is it viable to pursue a BM while maintaing an active profile, however minor, in the theatre program/stage productions? The department lists courses and such for Non Majors. However, I'm interested in its feasibility.

I'd like to continue taking classes in traditional drama - I'll be taking intro. to theatre and acting for vocal majors in a "4 yr. plan".

Any insight? Once plans become more concrete I may contact the theatre department. Need to get music schedule in order first!

Regardless, I'll be enjoying the productions one way or another! And there is always the option of pursuing roles in community theaters etc.
