I've been looking around through old threads, and even though I did a search, I can't really find any info on pre-law. I know Columbia doesn't have a pre-law track, but even in the academic planning book all that is really said about it is that you have to do well in a variety of courses (ambiguous?). This being said, does anyone (perhaps planning on going to law school) have info about the types of classes/requirements that CC students typically take on when planning on going to law school? thanks
Secondly, I know the polysci-econ. major only counts as one major, but does it have a significantly greater amount of work than other majors (due to its two components)?
Lastly, in order to keep the pre-med track open, would a freshman absolutely have to take chem, or would later years suffice to complete pre-med courseloads.
Thanks and sorry for the lengthy post

You can major in anything and take anything you want. You just have to get a good GPA. The planning book isn't ambiguous; it's right. CC students who major in anything from english to polisci to physics all have gotten into top law schools.

i dont understand how someone can be considering both pre-law and pre-med at the same time they are VASTLY different career paths with completely different interests.

Either way though, to answer your question, if you aren't planning on being a science major it would probably be a good idea to start premed freshman year since the requirements might get in the way of your other classes later.

yea they're pretty different...but even though i'm 90 percent sure i want to go on to law school i don't want that 10 percent uncertainty to come back and bite me in the arse

because of course if you decide not to go to law school the only logical thing to do would be to go to med school right? because there aren't any other professions that you could possibly consider.

no, it's more like I intern at an oncology office and really like it, and when i was looking through the "helpful threads" there seemed to be quite a bit of worry as to how early to start the premed track.
Another interest of mine could be teaching (i'm all over the place), but i havn't seen any threads on how deciding to take that track too late would screw me, so I asked about med school.
