Major issue

i am goin to apply to stanford in 2017 but my hs does not offer ap classes to underclassmen and in junior and senior year they only offer them to magnet kids. i am not a magnet student because to be in the magnet you have to apply as incoming freshman and i went to differant school but then transfered here because my mom got job transfer. but i have taken mostly honors courses the only regular courses i have taken are electives. electives here are like weightlifting, basketball, tennis and stuff like that they dont offer honors and we need to take 8 elective classes to graduate.

what should i do?

will it hurt my app if i have not taken ap classes? this is out of my control. i have taken the most rigorous courses possible that I can!

any solutions?

please help.

Have your guidance counselor make a note about this on the form he fills out. That sounds like a dumb rule.

Yep, what theGFG said.

Also, call a FORMAL meeting with your GC, Mom and whoever else you can think of.

You should be concerned regarding elite shools. Not so, about the rest of the world.

wat do u mean by a formal meeting? what should we discuss?

Consider self-study?

i am in florida and we have this class size amenmandt recently passed and it caps classes to 25 kids. so even if they let me in my hs faces fines from department of education.

What HS you go to? I am in FL as well.

2017? You are going to stay in high school for another 6 years?

I think he means that he will be college class of 2017, so in 2 years.

yea i meant i am class of 2017. lol any other suggestions i need some help. plz help me.

do keep in mind i am taking honors not just some regular junk.

how bad will it look if i dont take ap classes?

colleges tend to know when a school does not offer AP’s

also, on the common app, there is a spot which asks if your school offers AP’s (thus you will put no or whatever the selection to do so is)

it wouldnt look “favorable,” but not detrimental. best if you work hard on extracurriculars (show your passion) while sustaining strong grades. and also try to take the AP exam at a different school that provides it.

i wanna take some ap tests but my parents refuse to pay 87 bucks per test. i can see why becuase that is alot of money especially when we have other costs, 87 bucks is basically a stanford app fee. i dont know what to do, i want to be the strongest applicant i can be.

any other ideas?

You could also try to take classes at a local community college.

Can you get a fee waiver for the tests?
