Major Issues

Before anyone asks, I'll just say it: this is a double post.

I have an idea of what I want to do with my life, but I'm not sure which major to pick to achieve it.

I want to have a challenging job that offers variety, flexibility, versatility, and of course a good aura and salary.

I like coming up with new ideas, but I also like to somewhat follow pre-established guidelines, as long as I can still be independent.

I'll most likely do something in Business or at least related to Business.

Here are some majors that interest me:
Economics
International Relations/Business
Finance/Banking
Computer Science
Mandarin Chinese (I at least want courses to be offered)
Operations Research
Finance Engineering
Accounting

Management isn't really something I'm interested in. It's just too stressful, and I'm not keen on that much structure in a work environment.

Can someone help me narrow down this list to 1 or 2 good majors based on my interests? I know most schools only have a couple of these majors, but some schools also have better programs than others. Cost will be the most important factor in deciding on a college, since I'm lower middle class. But right now I want to focus on majors.

Does anyone have experience in these majors? Can any of them get me the kind of job I want?

well accounting isn't really flexible
For Computer science you will probally be stuck as a database admin
im not sure about the other majors

Which is better now:

Economics
Finance
Finance Engineering
Operations Research

financial engineering and operations research are basically the exact same thing. It depends where you go though.

bump... ...

If you want to stay in business, don't do CS or OR.
Economics, I've heard, is a good all-purpose, theoretical, wide-ranging major that is looked upon very highly. Good LSAT and GMAT scores, too.

Accounting and econ are the two most flexible majors for business that you listed.

If you're going to do economics, make sure you load up on math courses as well (math minor), in order to set yourself apart from the hordes of other econ majors.

Which is better: Math or Statistics?

Math, because the number of classes it would take for me to shoot myself would be lower for statistics.
