Major/Minor combination?

Ok, so I just transfered to university and have declared a major in Mathematics - Applied.
I am also heavily considering minoring in Actuarial Science. Is this a reasonable decision? Besides Calculus and two or three statistics courses this combination doesn't really overlap...
Reasoning -
A General Major and a Specific Minor incase down the road I decide I no longer want to work as an actuary.
The option that I could graduate soonest is switching my major which I don't want to do and my school recently stopped offering Actuarial Science as a major.
Interested in the physical sciences as well as economics/statistics and haven't completely assured myself I want a career in the latter albiet that's what I'm leaning towards.

Basically, I guess I'm looking for reassurance that this is a cohesive combination, and that minoring in Actuarial Science and not masjoring in it, assuming I pass all the examinations, hopefully find an internship, I'd still be a good candidate for employment as opposed to the guy who majored in economics/stats/actuarial

You don’t need any formal actuarial science training to get an entry-level position. Students with some type of quantitative major, who take the VEE courses, pass the first two exams and pursue an actuarial internship in college are strong candidates for entry-level positions.

That is to say, yes, minoring in actuarial science on top of an applied math major will give you a solid academic background.
