MAJOR MISTAKE in UC application

I have been admitted to UCSD as a math major. After I got my acceptance, I saw that there were mistakes in my application. I reported the mistakes and they said they would let me know about their decision after they got my transcripts in late summer. I really would like to go to UCSD.
These are the marks for 11th grade
Subject…Reported Marks…Actual marks
English…80…80

Physics…66…57

Chemistry…71…66
Math…65…71
Biology…60…65
German…57…60
Environmental Science…41…41

As you can see, the marks themselves were correct but were aligned with the wrong subject. So my overall percentage/GPA remains the same. Would my admission get rescinded?

That’s a tough call. Usually this would be considered lying, which would result in you getting rescinded, however it was clearly an accident, and you informed them about it. I don’t think you’ll get rescinded, but there’s only one way to find out.

They said I should accept another school’s offer of admission as back up…how does that work?

It doesn’t sound good, sorry to hear that. But there is always hope. Good luck!

It works like this:

  1. You proceed as if you were attending X university, not UCSD (e.g., pay non-refundable deposits, possibly pay tuition (probably refundable), apply for dormitory space, register for freshman classes (if applicable), prepare for X’s orientation program, purchase X’s parking sticker, read X’s required summer reading list books, and EVERYTHING else (just as if you were matriculating at X university, not UCSD)).
  2. If UCSD rescinds your admission, you attend X (based on all the preparatory steps in #1).
  3. If UCSD does not rescind your admission, you select the alternative you prefer (and – very politely – withdraw from the other school’s freshman class).

Sorry, those “mistakes” are pretty significant. And they happened for a number of subjects. You are going to have to do a lot of explaining.

You can do that after May 1st? I thought the deadline was May 1st?

Also most of my marks are increasing…

@mathmajor1209 (re post #6):

  1. What are you referring to?
  2. If it’s the sequential steps – that you requested – listed in post #4, I’d remind you that it is not yet 1 May.

But isn’t the deadline to accept admissions May 1st? I won’t know if UCSD will rescind or not till late summer.

^ ^ ^
That is correct, which is why you MUST go through the sequential steps outlined in post #4 for the “other” (backup) institution (which was termed “X” in post #4). Did you read post #4; it explained this rather clearly? Further, if UCSD admits you, they will provide individual instructions that supersede the normal, 1 May, deadline (duh).
