MAJOR mistake on my application

I've just sent in the common application part of my application to Princeton - minus the writing supplement - and realized that I sent in an application stating that I'm interested in pursuing a B.S.E.!! I'm a political science and economics major with no interest in engineering at all. I realize now how careless this appears to be and now I'm not able to send in the writing supplement because it now contains a mandatory question pertaining to engineering students. Is there anything I can do other than email admissions? How much will this error affect my application?

Thanks in advance.

um… I can think of only one thing other than emailing the admission officers. You can write the essay and pretend you like engineering since your choice of major isn’t binding. As you can see, this is a very stupid solution and you should email the admissions and ask what you should do.

E-mail/call them. It’s very unlikely to be a big deal.

Also, how are you “a political science major and economics major” when college hasn’t started yet? :)

Sorry, I mean I am aspiring to study political science. I wrote that post in a bit of a hurry. Thank you so much though!

@poly I literally made the same mistake today. How did you solve the mistake?

^^^^
Write a line explaining your situation. Then write a “Why Princeton” essay.

Thank you!
