My school list makes me confused. I really keen on Engineering(in details, those're CS and Electrical engineering), but my family also can't afford for me without financial aid. Anyway, money come first, and it's a big chance I have to cross out some schools because of it.Here is my list, can you give me advices for these schools and whether there are any schools else to give FA generously to international student?
1.University of Chicago
2.Haverford college
3.RPI
4.Texas A&M
5.TCU
6.Messiah college
7.Reed college
8.Carnegie Mellon University

Haverford does not have engineering. Neither does Reed. Why don't you find schools with engineering and THEN try to figure out which ones you might be able to afford?

you are picking all the wrong schools. The only ones I would keep on your list is Texas A&M and RPI. RPI is usually generous with scholarships. Carnegie mellon is well known to be expensive and stingy even to domestic students. (I have firsthand experience) They don't provide any financial aid to internationals.

I'd add the following if you are a good student, international and are worried about cost:

Case Western Reserve, Tulane, and the very best ivies, schools that are known to have loads of cash. (apply to schools with large endowments)

Also, another way is apply to public universities with low OOS tuition, such as University of Minnesota.

Thank you all, your comments help me a lot. I nearly go in a very wrong way without your ideas. The decision to post my list here seems to be the most efficient action these days.^^ Thanks a lot!!

@keefer: I did check out the schools you gave, but Case seems not provide financial aid to international students(Case Western Reserve University ). Tulane is also not clearly about the point. It's a big problem to me. Can you give me more schools that is not too selective but generous to international students(this criterion now become the most important). I do chose 1 or 2 Ivies but they are not the safe choices. Thanks!

Just a quick question: Does Lehigh provide FA generously for international student? On the school's website, I found that it does, but they add this sentence:"you should prepare to finance your education at Lehigh with your family's funds, sponsor...& encourage to research alternative funding source". I wonder it is true that it's impossible to get good financial aid from the university, or this's only 1 way to say:"we only help the outstanding students to finance their education, nope for the others, so don't think of FA if you're not good enough"^^ (Just my kidding)
