Major Pre-reqs for UCB

I know decisions are still a month away, but I'm getting really nervous about not having my major pre-reqs completed. I'm a psych major (which is impacted) and am missing two pre-reqs for UCB. Does anyone know if it's even possible for me to get in without them, or should I just give up any hope now? My GPA is in the 3.8-3.9 range, if that matters.

Just going off from Assist
“Transfer applicants should complete ALL of the lower division prerequisite
courses by the end of the spring term prior to enrollment at Berkeley. If
needed, lower division prerequisite courses may be completed by the end of
summer term prior to enrollment.”

How’s your PS??

Avg admitted GPA for your major: 3.82
Are you considered diverse?

How many pre-recs are there from your CC to UCB in your major?

Does your CC offer all of them or only some?

Answer all those and we can give you a decent yes or no

@Matt4200 where are you getting this average admitted GPA of 3.82? Do you have a source?

Considering you applied to a capped major, your chances are not the highest compared to a regular competitive applicant who has completed all prerequisites.

@ocnative - For the College of Letters and Sciences at UCB I’ve read numerous threads and asked a couple people that work with transfers they said that UCLA and UCB tend to have very similar statistics for L&S majors as far as what they want in GPA, though UCB does not post theirs and they do rely a little heavier than UCLA on the Personal statement on order to bring diversity to their campus they are typically around the same in terms of what they’re looking for in terms of GPA.

Wouldn’t you agree?

I met with a Berkeley Rep and she encouraged me to take pre-req courses that were also recommended… SO, I think UCB weighs high on pre-reqs… hope this helps.

I think my personal statements were pretty good, I had to explain my unusual academic history and tried to make sure my personality and passion shone through as well. I’m not really racially or economically diverse, but I am older than most applicants and have experienced adversity if that counts.

My CC offered all the pre-reqs, but I had to focus on taking IGETC courses and couldn’t fit all of the major pre-reqs into my schedule too. I transferred to my CC from out of state so I was trying to squeeze a lot of requirements into one year and was low priority for course registration so I wasn’t able to get all of the classes I wanted to take. There are 7 major pre-reqs and I’m either missing 2 or 3 depending on if they’ll accept one of the classes I took at my out of state university.

Not sure if this is important, but UCB contacted me for additional information last week. I’m hoping that means they’re seriously considering me?

@ucxdreamer From what I’ve read (info from this forum), they’re contacting you b/c you’re most likely on the borderline. Your chances are as great as mine right now, so try not to stress~

@whitetiger84 it’s weird because they requested information I had already provided in my application. It’s impossible not to stress, especially since I wasn’t in the first wave of decisions from UCSD, UCSB, or UCSC. All we can do is wait, best of luck to you!

@ucxdreamer Just know that if they’re reaching out to you for additional information shows that they care about your application and that they’re still in the process of making a decision on your application. I’m pretty sure your borderline and I suggest you sending over their request as soon as possible. Good luck and I hope you get into the school of your choice! :)
