I know this has probably been asked already, but do the UC's count major pre-req's taken during summer session or will they only count the courses taken during summer for IGETC?

They don't want you doing ANY REQUIREMENTS in the summer PRIOR TO THE SEMESTER YOU ARE GOING TO ENROLL IN A UC; dont plan to do any requirements that semester. There are some exceptions for Irvine and Santa Cruz, but again, you should avoid that.

what if my 1st choice major requires a course i planned to take during the summer while my second choice major does not... will they still consider me for the second choice??

i'm actually registered to take that course next quarter instead of summer.. starting april 10th. should i email them asap and let them know so my chances of getting admitted aren't hurt?

im a little iffy about taking 3 hardcore math courses in one quarter though so i was going to inform them once i was sure i could handle the workload and wouldn't be dropping my 3rd math class.

what should i do? notify them asap or wait?

& could this be why only ucsc has admitted me?? (no news from davis, sb or sd)
ahh now i'm really freaked out.

You need to let the schools know about any changes to your current, or projected schedule.

--- aka i might drop the math course. because ill be taking 3. i dont want to tell them ill be taking it and then tell them i dropped it. ugh. such a complicated proccess!

I have a similar question... I have already been admitted to ucsc, davis, and sb... However I am missing the calc series from my major. Would they care if I took calc in the summer or do they want me to take it at UC next fall???

If you already are admitted to the school, I don't believe you can take major requirements the summer before starting. You can take general ed classes however. But, if you listed the Calc series in your 'planned courses' for the fall 05 or spring 06 and you ended up not taking it, then you might have a problem, because they could have admitted you on the basis that you WERE going to take it. If you didn't mention Calc anywhere on your application, then I'm assuming you can take it at UC when you transfer. I hope that made sense...I'm kinda confusing myself now. haha

eh the whole situation is confusing even to me. the biggest bummer is that its not even calc. its one, two steps beyond: linear algebra & differential equations. i will def. be way in over my head next quarter with my final calc course and those two hot tamales.

anyways i just emailed the UC's and notified them of my change in plans. we'll see how it goes. thx for your help, guys.

Pauld--I think it's possible that you can do that. Contact the campus you are planning to go to, and clear it up with them.
