how important are the recommended ones?

as you all know, assist.org lists major prep courses and then just some recommended ones towards the bottom...

i dont wanna take 2 semesters of calc, i know it won't hurt me a lot, but should i do it even if i'm doomed in calculus (i failed precalc in HS, so i'm assuming calc will be hell for me)

What's your major?

PEIS (political economy of industrial societies) at uc berkeley..under letters and science

Major prep classes are more important... but if you can do both without much trouble, why not take them all?

cuz i'm dead scared of calculus...

if u feel good about ur gpa and other ec, u can proly get away w/ out taking them since u say u hate calc.

but if thats not the case, u might wanna take it to improve ur chances.
