Major prerequisite question

I am a history major and a Berkeley hopefull. I am really stressing out over one issue, major preq's. For a history major looking to transfer to Berkeley the admission office wants the student to have completed one American history course, One Western Civilization history course, One Latin/Asian/African history course, and one elective course. My problem is by the time that I apply I will have two American history courses done, two Western civilization courses done, and a histroy of California Course done. But I will not have completed my Latin/Asian/African history course. Do you think this will seriously affect my admission. I have a fairly decent GPA (3.89) but I am very paronoid any help will be greatly appreciated

(Sorry for double post but I was not sure where to put this)

if you can, stack that class somewhere in your schedule. they really look at major pre-req completion, and GPA in that category. If you have it done and maintain that kind of GPA- you will have the best shot at getting in.

major prereqs are a fairly important factor in the admission process. With that gpa, missing one wont hurt too bad, but it really depends on how many prereqs they require and whether they require it. i would follow niggits advice

I deleted the dup thread in the regular Transfer Forum, Thedude, as I think you will get more informed answers here.

Is history an impacted major at Cal? I'm sorry, I haven't checked lately...I got accepted w/ GPA 3.7 & 2/3 pre reqs completed, but my major is sociology....so it really depends on how impacted your major is. It looks like you have a good chance though

"My problem is by the time that I apply I will have two American history courses done"

If by that, you mean this November, you only need to have your pre-req's completed by Spring 2008, rather than by the time of the application.
The added benefit of having pre-req's completed by the time of the application is unclear and often debated, but most will probably agree that it will not make a difference in your situation.
Of course, if you meant that you will not have it done prior to the Spring term when you are leaving, then ignore this.

Sorry I should give you guys a little more information. I will be taking the latin history prerequisite fall 08 when I apply. On my application I will be able to say I am in progess in this class but I won't be able to show the grade I will be recieving in that class. I have gotten all A's in my history classes but do you guys/gals think it is really important that I have all my preq's done by the time that I apply? I will have all of them done by the time that I transfer. Again thanks for all of the help.

They know that you won't be able to show the grade for that class until you take it. There will be an update form that you will fill out with updated grades, and any other changes you have made to your academic schedule. If you have changes beyond that, you will be able to contact a counselor at the school to report grades/classes etc. If you will have all of your pre-reqs for your intended major completed by Spring 2008, and keep that GPA where it is at, you will have a great shot because those two things are the major factors for the UC's.

Accepted as poli sci. By the end of spring quarter before I applied, I realized I had to take poli sci 1 and two US history courses (my AP credit didn't count after all). So they weren't able to see my grade on three courses until the app update. History isn't as difficult to get into as poli sci (this is something I've asked the Berkeley councelors about) and you have a good GPA. Just relax and do your best.
