I am a Sophomore in college right now and Ive heard that I would have a better chance majoring something OTHER than Biology but I am torn between Majoring for Biology/Minor in English or Double Major for Biology AND English or majoring in English and just still taking the Biology classes I have to take but taking the English classes I have to take as well. Which one would better my chances at getting a good med school? Would it help at all? I am just concerned.

high gpa + high mcat is what matters…

MD is great! but you should have a back up plan (just in case you change your mind, don’t get into the school you want to enroll, etc) Look into a more marketable and versatile degree… Between Bio and English… which one is more valuable (in terms of getting an MS, internships, real jobs post graduation, etc)?

I don’t know where you’re enrolling and what’s your goal as a doctor. Let’s say you want to focus in research (MD/PhD), then a bit more extensive background in bio might help you get an undergraduate research. OR if your final goal is to be a pediatrician for life, maybe the best way would be to pick a major with the most flexible schedule and easiest coursework - allowing you to attain the highest possible GPA, solid letter of recs as you become the star in your dept, and plenty of extra-curriculars.
