Major Problem

My grades from last year aren't so hot and im applying to well...ughhh...exeter, andover, hotchkiss, sps...math is my worst subject and i told that to my interviewer at exeter. but the differences on each marking period for most subjects had difference in grades from Bs to As. My transcript from my first marking period this year are all As, and my overall SSAT was 93 percentile, 84 verbal, 90 math, 96 critical reading. Do I have any hope?

hey 14 views, no comment any one?

What do you mean by not so hot? Is your school prestigious? Do you have any hooks?

Compared to everyone else on cc my grades don’t look good. I have been dancing for 7-8 years and i go away to dance schools during the summer as well as dancing during year. I’m on my school’s debate team, I’m a girl scout working on my silver award, and i do pilates. Those are my major important things. Do you think my grades are good enough for exeter? (that’s my favorite school :)

My grades last year put together averaged out to 88.75. They were relatively uneven though. My highest marking period grade was a 96.

please tell me people already 57 views, and the 1 person who did reply didn’t even answere my question…ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

sounds like sps may have a spot for you

I strongly dislike sps. I had a great interview at Exeter. Just in case they are looking at cc (highly unlikely) I won’t say the name but he/she was going to give me a personal interview but had a meeting that they were late for. He/she said schools would be fighting over me (trust me I’m not full of it because I have a feeling this is possibly quite generic).

I think you might have a chance. I kind of have that problem to cuz math is my worst subject plus I had a terrible teacher, so those grades weren’t so great. AND my transcript is wrong and I can’t change it. So I guess were in the same boat.
But if what ppl have said about SSAT is true, then you should be in the upper pool of applicants. If there were personal problems or something you could try and explain that in your interview. Hope that helps. :/

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. My grades really fluctuated last year. Social studies was at one point an 81 in one marking period, and a 96 in another.

any other thoughts?

I think you have a great chance…Good Luck!!!

i think u have a great chance
do u not have a chance if noone says 'you are perfect for our school " or “the schools will be fighting over you”
no one’s ever said that 2 me…
imkinda worried now

Okay thanks. Haha don’t worry, that’s why I asked if my grades would cause me to plummet because he/she didn’t check my transcript or anything besides my candidate profile beforehand. Thanks again and I think you have a GREAT chance!

Its okay if people don’t want to keep replying but the more the merrier.

Don’t fret about it! I can’t really compare you to the others, but that’s all I can say.

Okay thanks

bump

i wouldnt worry, i had an 84 average last year (family issues) but this year i have a 95 avereage. nd a 95 on my ssat. my interviewers all told me my grades were fine nd my ssat was too so dont worry about it.

however i think i do have a hook, im currently being recruited for football  nd the coaches said they wantd me so i guess that puts me on a different spot?

Did you say family problems to them? I didn’t say anything
