Hi everyone! I am currently a rising sophomore at a 4-year university. As a high school student, I found it very easy to find and apply for scholarships. However, as an undergrad, I'm finding it more difficult to find major scholarships.

Does anyone have advice as to where I should look? I am a premed and majoring in biochemistry, if that helps. But generally, I'm just wondering if I'm missing some good websites. I really hate fastweb and cappex, which love to classify me as a high school student and direct me to tons of scholarships for which I'm ineligible.

Thanks for any help! :)

SMART. It does, however, require you to work for the government upon graduation.

ROTC scholarships are available for two years at some schools. There are med school programs through the military as well.

nicolekm, I know what you mean, my son has never had any success with those sites. My son attends school in Pennsylvania and they have a statewide organization called Pennsylvania Bio which sponsors a 10,000 life sciences scholarship. He found it by randomly googling and actually won it!

If you attend in another state I would recommend searching to see if there is a statewide Biotech/Life Sciences organization - they may sponsor a scholarship.

If you are doing any research, take a look at the Goldwater scholarship.

Also check your home town as well - sometimes there are a few smaller scholarships out there for current college students. We had only one through our Historical Society.

Good luck!

The Goldwater is tough (and generally aimed at students who plan to go into research), but if you get it, it’s not only $15,000, but it’s also quite prestigious and will look really good on post-grad applications.
