Hi everyone!
I’m a high school senior trying to scramble for last minute merit opportunities. My family just ran into some tough financial issues, so I’m freaking out about paying for college. I have 35 ACT; 4.0/4.0 UW 4.89 W; 800/760 on SAT II’s; interesting ECs and story, strong leadership positions and some national awards.
If anyone has information on merit scholarships whose deadlines have not passed yet, I would greatly (!) appreciate it!
You aren’t going to be able to afford an expensive college based on scholarships you patch together. Even if you had started earlier, it isn’t feasible.
The best scholarships come from colleges. A few questions:
- Have you applied to colleges that meet need? If so, have you notified them of your circumstance change?
- Do you have an admissions and financial safety?
- Have you looked at schools that will give you automatic scholarships for your stats? Go to the FA forum out here and read the pinned threads. Not sure if it is too late, but University of Alabama - Huntsville is a possibility and might still be taking applications.
Thank you for your response! @intparent
I have notified the colleges of the change (efc has decreased considerably). Luckily, I had applied to a handful of financial safety schools before this all happened. The applications for a lot of the other college scholarships have since closed, but I will continue my search.
It seems merit scholarships are some of the last pickings so I want to do what I can to piece together a financial net if my family’s needs are not met.
