Major Selection

I am an international students who is going to apply for Fall 2016. My question refers to the selection of majors. Will my admission be affected depending on which major I chose? For example, would my chances of getting in be lower if I have biology as my first choice rather than engineering or English literature or anything not so demanded and popular? If so, which majors are most/least favorable? Thank you in advance.

No, you won’t be at a disadvantage. Most schools do not accept by major, as they know that students will often switch their concentrations during their four years.

In addition, they would be able to know if your intended major has nothing to do your high school activities. For example, if your transcript and recommendations reveal that you are a math and science minded student, but you put down “French Literature” as your intended major, the admissions officers would probably see it as a fishy attempt to game the system.

So, basically, what you mean is that universities choose students regardless their selected majors?

@TihoArm Yes.
