I'm trying to decide what to major in. Maybe you could help me decide, with this profile to help out:

I know that I love playing Age of Empires, I used to watch history documentaries dailly, and I love strategy games. For this reason, I'm considering majoring in International Relations.(Although I'm mostly apollitical and didn't do well with the math in macro economics 100.)

I also like travel, learning languages (Japanese,Chinese) and speaking in codes. I'm very interested in learning about East Asia (I've never been there) so I read alot of blogs and wikipedia articles about Japan.

I'm also interested in the East Asian Area Studies major, but I'm not sure any of these majors would pay the bills. Lets discuss the pros and cons of these majors here. Please ★:)

Wow... I think you're a version of me about a year ago. I watch the History Channel daily, love to play RISK, and like games like StarCraft. I considered a IR major, but my love of langauges seemed to shine above economy or poli sci (I was still in love with history). I read about languages, I spent hours on WIkipedia just reading. I even consdiered an East Asian Studies major (Korean-American learning Jpanese in school with knowledge of ~200 Chinese characters, but the Korean/Japanese pronounciations).

However, langauges came out on top... all of them. So I chose linguistics. Now I go on youtube and listen to Disney songd in Korean and Spanish and retranslate them into English mentally and see the meanings... for fun in my spare time.

I'm also consdiering pairing it with history (historical linguistics <3), particularly Euro. THis is another plus because I also considered a Romance studies major.

One of my brother's friends is majoring in East Asian Studies and Education and wanted to teach English in Korea. Although there's no history involved, you could travel to Japan or China and teach English. Although I hear they prefer American-looking (aka white) English teachers, native-speakers are still paid very well.

Okay, that was my major-hunt story. Hope I've helped.

You should become a ham radio operator.

You can do all that stuff.
