My computer (MAC) is weird and put question marks in front of almost every paragraph in both my essays for the UC app, which I can't alter anymore. I am worried to the point of tears, I feel like I screwed up my chances completely. I am ready to break down. Your thoughts? Are my chances totally ruined? Do you think it did any damage ?

I don’t think it’s your mac’s problem, mine did the same thing originally for some reason when I saved the essays. I just deleted them out, but it looks like a system error.

Do you think it will look really bad to the UC’s? I am already a mediocre candidate, I DO NOT need this to make it worse. I am lame haha I have been crying

if the system is causing that then there is a good chance it happened to multiple people and they will catch it and understand that it was just a problem with the program…:)

but if you are worried send them a quick email saying “I would just like to address the small error in my submitted essay. Due to an unknown error relating to my computer…(or whatever… ) there has been blahblah…and I would like to apologize for this and ask the office of admission to disregard these markings if at all possible…”

I am sure they will not be upset about that kind of thing.

Thanks! Should I just email the admissions office and state my name?

I think so…I am not sure but I know several schools will have specific directions in the contacts portion of the admissions page…like you might be able to find a section that says if you have a question concerning x, use this email address. if you have a question concerning y, use this email address…etc…I am sorry I am not familiar with the UC page. but I would say the general admissions email should be fine if you cannot find anything else. good luck!

Thanks, still a bit concerned

Anyone else have this problem?! Any other advice pleasee and thankyou

The same thing happened to me. I called them up and they say that its a common problem. Still, I sent an email to the UC tech one and then forwarded it to the UCAP (University Undergraduate Application Processing Service) but have not heard a response back as of yet (was 6 days ago). Hopefully, it will not be used against the both of us.

Also, as for their response, “I am forwarding your questions to UCAP (University Undergraduate Application Processing Service) as they are better suited to answer questions after you have submitted your application.”

Phew, you just calmed me down! What UC’s did you apply to?

that stressed me out, I looked at it and almost fainted

UC Apps are so annoying

Ya, call them. But also, you can always change your major once you get accepted right so don’t worry that much. They say they don’t accept based on major.

lol, sorry about that. but the same thing happened to my personal statements. I just deleted the question marks and put a space between each paragraph so it doesnt look like one big block of typing. i was freaking out earlier so i did some googling and other students did that as well.

Can you still edit them after they are “submitted” online? If not, At least you didn’t submit without checking like me!

no, you cant edit it anymore. i dont know how i missed the mistake in majors, i checked over my application like 50 times prior to submitting -___-

email them! I’m sure it will work out. Good luck

thanks, i will! i actually just called but apparently they’re only open M-F 815AM-420PM. ill just trying email.

yeah, that really does suck

While were here, do you mind chancing me?
