So I was accepted to the College of Letters and Sciences (yay!), but it doesn't say anything about my actual major. Does this mean I was accepted as undecided and didn't get the one I chose or am I just not looking in the right place? Thanks for the help (:

I got into that same one too. What does this mean? What IS the College of Letters and Sciences?

Well I know that when I applied the major I chose was part of the College of Letters and Sciences, but apart from that I’m not sure

From what I know, everyone gets admitted and considered as “undeclared”, at least in L&S. You are free to declare whatever major you want now that you’re admitted, in L&S.

@AceAites: L&S is one of the 14 colleges and schools of UC Berkeley. It is also the largest. It contains a sizeable amount of the academic disciplines of the university. These might help:

http://ls.berkeley.edu/about-college

In the College of Letters and Science, you start out as undeclared officially, but you can take major pre-reqs in the major you want to be. I think in junior year you officially declare your major.

Oh okay, that makes sense. Thanks guys!!

Actually junior year is the deadline for most disciplines to declare your major; you can declare your major in many departments any time before that. I declared both my majors and my minor in the second semester of freshman year. (:

List of majors you can declare in L&S:

[Office of Undergraduate Advising: List of Majors](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/major/majorlist.html)

Note that capped majors have limited enrollment, and usually have some sort of application and admission procedure, often requiring a higher GPA than what is merely needed to stay in good academic standing. If you want to change to a major outside of L&S (engineering, business, etc.), you need to apply to the other division.

You can declare (or apply to declare) a major when completing the prerequisite courses (check the catalog and department for more information); you must declare by the first semester of junior year.
