Major...

i'm applying to yale early action and i still haven't chosen my major.. haha

my question is,

does the level of popularity/competitiveness of the major you choose affect your chances of getting accepted?

A bit? I also wanna know..

No. The only point about listing a major is it gives the file reader a tiny window on what your thinking is. It has no impact on admissions due to the fact that they know most people change majors.

you can leave it blank and it won't hurt you. And this is quoted from an admissions rep, BTW

Side note: if I remember correctly, I stated "Chemistry" as my intended major despite the fact that I had only gotten Bs in my Honors Chem class junior year. LOL

It didn't affect my admissions at all. And I ended up being an Econ major!! LOL

Basically, if you think you'd like to major in something, write it down. If you're undecided, write that. This isn't an area where you can game anything. Best of luck to you both

thank you so much!

good luck to you, too =D
