So I was accepted to Cal Poly Pomona for Fall 2010 and I submitted my SIR and all my documents, but I was unable to get into the major that I wanted which is the Animal Health Sciences program.Oh I am a high school senior by the way.
I am 100% sure that I want to be a veterinarian so is there still hope for me to get into that major? What do I do now?

You do realize that you can pursue any undergrad major you like and still go to Vet school, right?

Yea I do, but if I were to be in the major as an undergrad I would have more hands on training and all the other good stuff if I was in the major rather than another.Plus I wouldnt have a harder time getting classes too.

Have you asked Cal Poly how hard it is to transfer into that major as a current student?

No not yet but I plan to.
The office isn’t open on saturdays or sundays so I have to wait. I got the letter today.

The classes that you need for admission are genChem, Orgo, BioChem, Bio and Physics. Are you saying that these classes will be shutout for you? These are all pretty generic classes that are usually pretty open to anybody at most schools.

Obviously you will need extensive experience working with animals, but you can get this outside of your college (working on a farm, etc.)

Well people have been saying its hard to get classes especially because we’re limited to 13units per semester and class budget cuts and all that.
Oh well, I hope things work out.
