majoring and minoring =)

I have decided to go the business route but now I'm having a hard time narrowing it down. For sure I do not want to do accounting since I am taking it right now and it is whooping my butt. As for management, marketing, and (maybe) finance they're all possibilities. I would love to know more about what you guys know about management vs marketing. I do not know what I want to end up doing just yet. Btw I am entering my JR year next Fall

Also the second part to this question is that I'm not sure whether if I should minor in music. I understand it won't help me much to have this minor but its just learning for my personal interest. I try to weigh the pros and cons of it

pros:
- doing what I love
- improving my musical ability

cons:
- stay a semester more in school
- semester more = pay more
- doesn't really help my major

so overall I would love to hear thoughts, suggestions, experiences in these areas, any input really can help
Thank you, will update

management vs marketing will get you no love on this board. most here view them as weak majors. to a point, i agree. however, if your school is a name brand and your network is good, you can’t go wrong with any business major. it wouldn’t hurt to pick up a double major if you really like the marketing thing (finance, OM, accounting). as for the minor in music, doing what you love is important. and i’m sure employers would value your well rounded education. it may be a topic of interest in early interviews and may help to set you apart.

You don’t need to pick just one minor. There’s a guy on this board who took at least three minors, and he’s hugely successful now.
