Majoring in Animal Behavior

Any information about it is welcome.

Are there many research opportunities for undergrads?
Career opportunities post-grad?
Rigor of the courses?

Thanks!

my impression has been that animal research is one of the more active departments on campus in terms of getting undergraduates involved in research. it just seems that every animal behavior article ive read on the website or in the alumni magazine has highlighted the undergraduates aiding in the research process.

that impression seems to be confirmed by this quote on the departments website:

as far as career opportunities, in recent years graduates have headed to graduate, veterinary and medical schools. others have taken jobs in environmental education at nature centers, as bird surveyors, interns with national geographic, conservation associates, university research technicians (likely to put together a very strong graduate school profiles), et cetera.

unfortunately, im not in much of a position to comment on the quality or rigor of courses in that program. it is a well-regarded department on campus, though. i can say that.
