Majoring in economics= unemployed??

Okay, if I do major in economics and maybe managerial studies in Rice, will I have a hard time finding a job after college?

And after some work experience, I plan to get an MBA (I know, it's a long time in the future). However, my dad says that there is no demand for people w/ an MBA. Is that true?? Will I have a tough time finding a decent-paying job?

Any "visual proof" would be great so I can refute Daddy-o :)

I think you should change the subject to Majoring In Economics=Great Success.

I’m an economics major at Rice and I know that top, top companies come to recruit at Rice every single year. This is especially beneficial to Rice as many Fortune 500 companies are based in Houston.

Economics is one of the principal disciplines that runs the corporate and political spheres of the world, so surely it would be narrow minded to think that majoring in economics= unemployed.

Here’s a place where you can do a bit more research:

[Center For Student Professional Development - Rice University](http://cspd.rice.edu/)

Yes, you will get a job:

Refer to the post-graduate survey link in post #9:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/rice-university/698130-rice-vs-cornell-concerns.html

Thanks! But is there a more specific survey that focuses on those who were econ majors?

So as long as I do well in Rice I’ll have no problem getting a job, correct?

If you actually read the survey you would see that on page 31-32 it has what you want to know.

oh yah my fault i wasnt looking closely. thanks you guys!
