Majoring in EE

I'm naiive to these types of stuff, but I have talked to some engineers about this.
I'm majoring in EE, and I'm thinking of minoring in Econ or some business type class.
However, an EE at intel told me to either minor in computer science or just take computer science,
and some people said to just major in Comp Sci and take finance, stats, and econ along with it.

Could someone explain college classes to me, like how many you can take, the point of taking other classes besides the ones for your major, how to minor/major, etc?

EE and CS are very bonded, and there are even intermediary courses (something between those two) such as Computer Engineering.

In my opinion, programming skills have become fundamental for any person whose work involves math (you’d like to know how to program your own softwares in order to develop your calculations), which makes reasonable that you take such minor along with your EE major.

P.S.: I believe there are classes about programming in EE. If this is the case, you’d have to check whether a CS minor would really come in handy.
