Majoring in Engineering Mathmatics or Business Administration?

first i wanna get a ib job so i posted in here. the question is which major should i take?

some people said majoring in engineering and have a great math ability will help a lot for a undergraduate to break into IB. after work for a ib or financial job for several years, get a mater degree of financial engineering.

but others said study in business school is best for undergraduate who want to work for ib.

what should i do and how about your information?

I really wanna know the answer for that too!

It is my personal view, I have more respect for applicants with Engineering, physics, math degrees. UG business degree generally doesn’t impress me, unless it’s from Wharton. People with business degrees are expected to have very high GPA when applying because it is well known that those classes are relatively easier. If you want a business degree, get a MBA.

Oldfort, is a degree in Economics considered a “business degree” in that regard?

No, economics is more theoretical and it’s offered in A&S.

Wait so do you want to trade or do IB?

Math beyond algebra is not necessary to succeed in investment banking. Don’t bend of backwards five times over taking engineering, let alone financial engineering, classes if all you’re trying to do is break into banking.
