Hey,
I am not sure if someone has posted something like this already, but i am thinking about majoring in math, and am wondering what the math program is like at MIT. Of course it is good, but is it hard? are there really good prof? are there any classes to beware of? how is it compared to chem E?
thanks

Math is easy, for general you just need 8 classes past 18.03, they could be 8 grad classes or 8 pathetic classes, so its up to you. For the most part, the profs are good. Math classes dont tend to have recitations or anything, you just are supposed to house the problem sets. 18.100B (Real Analysis) is supposed to be the screener class for math majors. It's way better than chem E, which is boring (IAAMM - I am a math major)

From a pure requirements standpoint, math would be a better major than chemE if you were looking take classes outside your major or double-major; the math requirements are relatively flexible, while chemE has a very strict and inflexible (and numerous) set of required classes.
