Majoring in something else, but still getting a job in journalism

If I wanted to write for a newspaper, or work for a news station, would I have to be a journalism major? Or could I major in something like History or English at an LAC, and then go to a Journalism graduate school? What would my options be? Thanks

An English major would get you in.

You don’t have to major in journalism or english to be a good writer. You can major in what you want. Though tit is helpful in getting a job it is not required. But taking some journalism classes will help.

And if you decide to go to a journalism graduate school your undergraduate major does not have to be in journalism either.
