is it true that the major you choose, for cals in my case, will affect my admission? i am interested in premed, and was wondering if i should put bio like everyone else, or biometry and increase my chances of getting in (or so i heard)

biometry is a llot of math i heard, and i think i fit both majors pretty well.
took ap stat, got a 5, took aime all 3 previous years in hs. taking bc cal, 800 math 2c
taking ap bio and organic chem, worked in hospital. 710 chem 730 bio

i was thinking about putting down biometry then try to double major bio if i get in. what do you guys think?
Thankssssss

Biological Sciences is one of the most competitive majors in CALS...prob #2 and I would say AEM is #1.

If Bio is truly fit to you...then apply to bio. If you can write a convincing essays for biometry and statistics then go for that. CALS is very fit based and your essays will play a huge role in the admission decision.

Do you have interest in statistics and data analysis at all?

yea, and i think it should help in future research

There is no "pre-med" major at Cornell. As a result, students who are pre-med can major in anything they like and just take the required prereq classes to get into med school. So, your focus should really be on what you like. Think about it. What kind of major are you passionate about or would be interested in studying? Your chances of admission into Cornell will be a lot higher if you just focus on something you love. The Admissions people are good and figuring out whether or not the applicant has a true interest in the school and the major or if they are just trying to find an easy way in. I say, major in something you love. If that's biometry, so be it. If it's bio, major in bio.

hm, cool, more advises ppl? thanks
