I am going to be starting my junior year of high school in a couple of weeks and I’m starting my college search. Right now I want to eventually go into a career as a talent agent. To do this I would love to major in entertainment law or another similar major. However, I am not sure where to look for this and have a difficult time trying to find a college that offers this because it does not show up as an option on the may search tools I have found. Does anyone have advice on this career path or even know of a search tool with a more extensive major option? Any help to start my search is greatly appreciated. Thank you
You cannot study any type of law as an undergraduate. You may want to major in communications as an undergraduate and then go to law school.
Thank you, I actually knew I couldn’t but after 6 hours of researching I lost sight of that. I didn’t mean to post I meant to save in drafts and it was too late to fix once It realized! @TomSrOfBoston
Some schools offer arts administration or entertainment business programs. A friend of my son’s is taking a music business admin major but I would think that the concepts would apply to any type of entertainment. You should also consider taking at least some basic accounting classes, business law (which is an undergrad offering) and maybe some basic legal studies classes. Entertainment law in law school is usually a one semester class focusing on contracts. Nowadays, the schools may also offer some aspects of negotiating skills but they didn’t when I was in school.
Belmont University in Nashville has a really strong Music Business program.
