I'm going to be a senior in the fall and I've been researching my college options for awhile now.

I am interested in real estate and business, but I have some questions:
--Which business major is closest to a real estate? Some schools have the real estate degree but with those that don't, what would I [sign up to] major in instead? Management? Finance? Something else?
--Since I'm planning on applying to a university that offers the real estate major, is it a good idea to have a minor and if so, which one (or what would be good)?

One last thing: I signed up for a marketing class this year. I did have an accounting class, but I switched out of it. I was wondering which would be better though. Marketing or Accounting? I also did not sign up for a fourth year of math. (I might take a semester of stats...not sure yet) Should I take a fourth year (pre-calculus)?

What do you want to do in real estate? Like most professions, it is not just one thing. You can build real estae (real estate development, architecture) finance, legal, marketing, managing. Be more specific and people will respond more appropriately. If you really don't know what you want, ask more questions so people can help you fine tune what you might be looking for. My off-the-cuff advice is not to specialize too early. Get a very good education and specialize in grad school.

As a way to do some research, look at the Columbia University Graduate School of Real Estate (not the exact name but I am sure you will find it on the Columbia website). See what courses they offer to find out what areas real estate might cover. NYU also has a real estate masters and I'm sure there are other programs. Come back with more questions.

And actually, I don't really know what to do. So instead of specializing early, I should go for something general? Like, general business/management, or is that still too much too soon?

My thing is: nothing else really appeals to me so I'm not sure what else I could/should do.
