Majors Question: IT

Hey, I was just wondering...

If we're interested in the IT field (information technology),

What would I be studying for my major as an undergrad?

Would it be somewhere in engineering, or math, or what?

I'm sure there are some schools with IT majors, but if not, you can major in computer science as well. If you're really ambitious, you can put a math major/minor with it to make you more employable.

Not sure you even need a degree for IT. Before the bubble popped, I sat next to a IT manager and she was calling a local community college looking for people in IT. They were paying nearly 6-figure for somebody from community college. Disclaimer, it was before the bubble popped, not sure what it is now.

i'm currently working as an intern at cornell's IT medical department. From whta I've seen you probably need a strong computer background, so computer science perhaps?

edit: i'll just ask my dad who works on the floor, i'll get back to you about what most of the people there have majored in

edit: ye comp sci

hey, thanks!

ahhh computer science...gosh im screwed cuz i would hav eto take a science sat sujbect test...of which i CANNOT do, because i didnt take any science classes this year...=[
