At Mount Holyoke, you may design your own major and it is common to have an interdisciplinary major. The Mount Holyoke College Art Museum frequently hosts science classes in neuro biology and chemistry, for example.
You can have an independent major at Bryn Mawr–which means you create your own course of study. This can include courses from the other colleges in the tri-college consortium. It requires a fair amount of time and effort–BMC has to approve your proposal. It isnt easy because you have to justify your choices. My D did this and after it was over thought it was a valuable exercise.
I checked out the MAS major on the website and it looks like it’s basically a joint major between art and computer science. You take some core courses in art, some core courses in computer science, and your major electives are made up of digital-related art classes and some computer science classes.
I think you could create that major anywhere that had enough digital art classes to support you taking about 3-5 digital art classes, as well as one or two courses in art history or film.
Most of the MHC student interested in Media Arts take a base of Studio Art classes and supplement with CS and other 5 college offerings. Contact MHC admissions and ask.
