Yes…you can change from economics to another major (“premed program”)…at elite schools like Stanford there is no such thing as a “premed program”…rather, you can major in any area (that you love) and be in a “premed program”…there are no restrictions. In the “olden” days, many were biology majors going into medical schools because it was the path of “least resistance” for most…but, in recent years many sophisticated students have opted to major in economics, CS, engineering, math, music, art, theater/acting, chemistry, physics, etc…and get into top medical schools…or have many other interesting or lucrative choices/offers outside of medicine…</p>
<p>…you can major in whatever tickles your fancy! So stop worrying and enjoy your remaining senior year!</p>
