Between chemistry and physics, which is the better program at USNA?

If you're looking to pick a major between two of the pure sciences based soley upon which is the "better program," you've got your priorities mixed up my friend. Pick whichever one speaks to you personally and fulfills you as an academician. If you like it, do it. It's going to be 4 long years of misery if you're unhappy with your major just because you picked the "better program". But hey, in my humble opinion (regardless of the program itself) physics rules.

I like both sciences. They each have their pros and cons. On one hand I love the logic of physics, but on the other I love the types of fundemental questions chemistry can answer. So really, I think i would be happy with either.

Ask yourself this:

What do you want to do with your life? Do you want to be an engineer, a scientist, a pilot?

What would you do if you left the Service? What do you want to do IN the Service?

Based on those answers, choose the major you think would give you the best preparation.

Speaking of majors, does anyone have an updated list of all the majors offered at USNA? There's one on wikipedia, but I'm not sure how current it is. As of now, I really want to major in leadership, but I'm not sure if it's offered at USNA. Thanks

TMac - isn't there a current list on the main USNA website? Just go to the homepage, academics, and there is a list. Leadership is a category mentioned.

Upon graduation, a bachelor of science degree is awarded regardless of major, because of the technical content of the core curriculum. Those in the top 10 percent of their class graduate with distinction. Those who have completed special honors programs in one of six selected majors graduate with honors.
