I'm an incoming first-year at UNC. I definitely want to do law (I know it could change but it's pretty unlikely), but I have such broad interests that I'm undecided about which major to choose. The majors that I'm considering are:

Economics
History
Internation Studies
Philosophy
Political Science
Public Policy

In addition, UNC has a minor in Social and Economic Justice (under sociology deparment) which I'm interested in.

Yes, I <3 social sciences and humanities, especially social sciences. I'm good (780M SAT, 34M ACT) at math (+ for Econ) but relatively worse in English (- for History and Philosopy). However, my relative weakness in English is a little strange; 650V SAT but then 720 Writing SAT II, 28 ACT Reading but then 34 ACT English.

I know that Philosophy and Economics are great for LSATs; that is important to me, not simply for higher scores, but for preparation for law school and for a career in law.

Would it be to any advantage to double major, especially for admissions? I know that it can hurt your grades, but are there benefits? Also, I'll have quite a bit of AP credit, so it won't be as big of a burden as for some. How about getting a BA and an MA in 5 years?

I have no clue in regard to which law schools I'll be applying or even considering to apply. I do know, however, that a lot of the alumni from the scholarship program that I'm in at UNC have gone to the top law schools. But in regards to LSATs or grades, no clue.
