I didn't get in to ELEVEN of my twelve schools, but I was waitlisted at several top choices including Columbia, my very top. I am pretty sure I have a good chance of getting in off the waitlist, good stats, multiple legacy etc. I just didn't show enough passion in my app and didn't apply ED. Anyways, do you think I should go to Vanderbilt and just scrap the whole Columbia thing? If so, why?

Uhh, well I'd say someone has already narrowed it down for you. Perhaps you are meant to go to Vandy =)

And my friend is a freshman there this year and completely loves it.

Columbia and Vanderbilt are complete opposites.

Vanderbilt has lots of school spirit due to D-1 sports (football tailgates, march madness, etc). Most Columbia students probably get more excited about protesting than sports.

Vanderbilt has nice weather most of the year, Columbia will have colder winters.

Vanderbilt has some of the most beautiful girls in the country, Columbia girls are not particularly attractive.

Vanderbilt has a very tightly-knit community; people greet each other, etc. Columbia doesn't have the same cohesive community feeling.

Both schools have great music scenes, great academics, and lots of opportunities for socializing.

Hey if you have any questions about vandy life just PM me!!! i'm a fresh this year and i'm having an awesome time. Also, if you can come down for a visit, it will probably help you make a decision.

You should definitely visit the campus. You will be thrilled, and there will be no more doubts. I promise.
