Make or brake

Next Wednesday I take the PSAT. I think this would be the only thing that would prevent me from attending the summer seminar. If I do bad, Do i still have a decent shot with all of my other stuff? I am extremely nervous because I cant put into words how much I want to attend. I have already saved up my money and everything. Am i too worried? Any pointers? Any advice is welcome.

stop worrying, that will help you the most. just do your best

Just do your best. My D got accepted to Summer Seminar and never took the PSAT. Do your best and when it comes time to fill in the application give it all you've got. I recall there were places for grades, class standing, an essay and transcripts were required as well as some letters for recom. from various teachers. There certainly was a place for PSAT info but she never took it and she was accepted into the summer seminar about a week after she turned in her application. I recall she got her letter tellinger her she was accepted to summer seminar by e-mail and I am certain it was no more than one week from when she got the application turned in. Again, don't stress - just take it easy and do your best. Put your big effort on getting the best application packet possible together and then let the cards fall where they may.

And not getting into the Seminar does NOT mean you won't get in. Most people here didn't come to the Seminar...it's just a really big help if you get in.

yup, I never heard of summer seminar till my senior year. oops. Still got in no problemo! From what I understand, its a real big help in seeing if you'll like the atmosphere, many solidify their desire to come while others are turned off.

Statistics about SS are roughly this: about 800 attend summer seminar. About half of those accept appointments to the academy. The math works out to about 30% of each class attended SS. Attendance there seems to be pretty impressive in your ALO interview and may also help in your congressional interview. More than that, it is a superb opportunity to see the academy up close and personal. Don't pass up a chance to go to SS unless something truly better comes along.

Ive been working for this since the seventh grade. I want it really bad. I guess I will just relax take a deep breath and practice. Thanks for all of support and all of the information, it really means a lot to me that you take time to help me. Once again, Thanks.
