Okay so I'm a sophomore but whatever...
My stats:

GPA: 3.8(with frosh) 4.0(without frosh) <-- For Princeton
ACT: aiming for a 34+
Ecs: Youth Group
Model UN next semester
Volunteering at hospital in the summer
Might create a Physician club at my school
School type: Supposely competitive, 2000+ kids
Class rank: top 5%
Race: Black

Asumming I can a 4.0 Junior year and score a 34 on the ACT, what is a good list of colleges?
I already have Vanderbilt, Duke, and Princeto

it’s hard to say without knowing more about you…
what are you thinking of going into?
do you know what size school you want, or what location?
what kind of personality are you looking for?

Hey, don’t diss Alabama! It’s a great place to go to school. :)

Well, until you have any scores, it’s hard to know where you will be able afford to go to college since you need a lot of aid.

Try your best next year on the PSAT (make sure you take it). Doing well only that can provide you with some full-ride safeties. Then tackle the SAT and the ACT…take both!!!

for SAT prep, i’m very loyal to Princeton Review; i’ve used it exclusively and it’s gotten me great scores, though i’m sure you can’t go wrong with collegeboard. a lot of them are good, it just depends what you want, though i’ve heard barron’s is easier than the actual test…

for schools, you might want to look into northwestern…just going off history and under 20,000 doesn’t narrow it down much, though that’s probably because you’re a sophomore and maybe don’t know exactly what you’re looking for? if you’re interested in history and politics, you may want to consider going to school in DC; georgetown is really good but super catholic (i don’t know if that’s good or bad for you; i’m agnostic so it turned me off the school, personally), george washington is slightly less selective and a lot bigger, and american is less selective than GW and smaller, so it depends what you’re looking for…

^oh, is it really fine? the description i read was calling it “a mix of academics and faith” which made it seem like religion is a big deal there…is the actual campus more lax than some reviews make it seem?

also, scales1994, you might want to consider howard, a historically black college in DC if you’re interested in that; my dad went there for grad school and liked it, though it’s kind of in a bad neighborhood and back then you basically couldn’t leave campus (i’m not sure how it is now though, so it’s definitely worth a look)
