Heyy girls, can anyone recommend a good mascara? I own Maybelline's Great Lash, but either I suck at applying it (entirely possible) or it's not all it's cracked up to be, because it seems to have no effect on me whatsoever.

Any other makeup advice would also be greatly appreciated because I'm incompetent at being female. Or feminine. Whatever.

Lunar, in the words of a song of Scrubs, "Your name is a splinter inside me" because you're from the TASP thread (and accepted to the seminar that I was born to be rejected from, you lucky b*stard), buuuut...

I use Covergirl Volume Exact, and it works well (and you can get it at any drug store). Get VOLUME exact (the dark red container); this is very important, because they also sell mascara called Lash Exact (purple container) which doesn't do a d*** thing (I assume your Maybelline is similar). You want Volume Exact. They also have a new kind of mascara in an orange container that I haven't tried, but I can gurantee that Volume Exact in the dark red container is good.

Remember that makeup is there to accentuate your natural beauty, so don't try and pile it on like some girls do.

As for mascara...I really like the Maybelline, but my eyelashes don't need much embellishment (I already have really good long eyelashes).

I would recommend the ones that have the white volumizing mascara at one end and the black mascara at the other. I used one for Prom and it was AMAZING what a huge difference it made.

If you want something pricier, Benefit makes a great one called Bad Gal, except it's $20 :[
Clinique's are in the $10ish range and wash off VERY easily.
I like Maybelline Define-a-Lash also.

I took some Bare Escentuals stuff from a set my mom got and I like it. For some reason, there's a side with blakc mascara and a side with silver glitter...?

Also, the best "makeup" is just really great skin. . .invest in skincare products! Clinique has a great 3-step skincare system. I think the best makeup to wear is just some mascara and a pretty blush. An eyelash curler makes a huge difference. LOL I don't even wear makeup all the time but I have lots of advice :]

If you are going to be applying something to your eyes every day, get some GOOD mascara, even if it means it is more expensive, not the cheap kinds you can find at any drug store. I personally use Clinique and I think it works really well.

Also, it really depends on what kind of eye lashes you have. Do you have thin or thicker eyelashes? Thin lashes (like mine) work well with thinner mascara wands, but maybe you want a curved wand that will accentuate the curviness of your lashes. If you want thicker eye lashes, some mascara comes with a two sided wand where you apply a clear solution that thickens the lashes, and then you apply mascara on top.

I personally like using an eye lash curler once in a while and then just applying some mascara on top. If you want to get rid of "gunkiness", as khrushchevtm (holy crap your name haha) mentioned, then after applying the mascara use a tiny brush to separate the eye lashes or just use your fingers to press the eye lashes and get rid of excess mascara at the tips.

Uhhh I wrote a lot about mascara online, never done that before, haha.

PS: I never really cared for Cliniques 3 step skin care system. :/ I think it made my face even more dry, I didn't think it was worth it. Dunno, maybe others might disagree.

Thanks for all the advice, guys! I guess I'll be making a run to the local beauty supply store soon. Happens often enough anyway, since I'm a nail polish addict.
