I think makeup is fine as long as you can't tell at a glance that the person is wearing it. If it looks unnatural, then it's no good, in my book.

I normally only wear serious makeup (blush, eye shadow, mascara, various powdery substances) onstage. (We wear normal cosmetics, not stage makeup, on my school's stage.) I sometimes think I look better, in some regards, with it on, but I always have to get somebody to put it on for me because I'm pretty clueless about most of it. :p

Normally (everywhere but onstage) I just wear:
- a tiny bit of concealer
- powder foundation (used to use liquid, but took too long to apply)
- sometimes bronzer--though I think I just mean the darker powder that my darker-skinned mom rejected and gave to me. I use it when I feel pale and pallid.
- lip balm--I can't stand the drugstore/ChapStick variety, so I always use the $3-per-tube Burt's Bees or Naked Bee (delicious!!!) stuff.

On weekends, holidays, a few school days, and almost every day that I don't go out in public, I don't wear any makeup at all. Just lip balm, which is more a necessity than a cosmetic.

I really don't need mascara or eyeliner or tint for my lips. People think I'm wearing lipstick when all I've done is put on clear lip balm. :p People also think I bleach, dye, or streak my hair, but I don't do any of that. I don't do anything to my hair except wash it, brush it, put it in braids to sleep in, and once in a while hack it off, though I haven't paid for a haircut since 4th grade (though I didn't personally pay for it then). Actually, between now and age 9 I've only gotten my hair cut twice. :D

Anyway... yep. I don't bother much with my appearance.
