Making a bunch of careless mistakes in math

I have a tendency to go through the questions really fast, which is really bad for the SAT because I make a bunch of careless errors. I know exactly everything I do wrong, it's either I didn't solve for the right variable or because I bubbled in the wrong answer (Remember bubbling in 220 instead of 22 for the student produced questions for some reason)

I even told myself to go slow while I was taking the test in May and had time to double check the questions even and I still got 4 wrong on the May SAT and pulled only a 700

I know I can get an 800 in the math section, but I just always get tricked by collegeboard's questions

Tips?

Thanks

Like you said, force yourself to go slower. When you double check your answers, have a little diffidence and paranoia so that you’ll meticulously review everything you have done. That way you can spot careless mistakes. (Once I broke 700, most of my mistakes on the math section of the SAT were things like 3 + 3 = 9, although I don’t know why I did that…)

When you double check, you should basically be doing the section over again. Make sure you bubble everything in correctly.

I always had the same problem and one time I decided to try and do a practice test untimed. When i did this I relaized that I was actually finishing all the problems just in the amount of time I would of been given but was a lot more relaxed and ended up getting them all right and omitting one. I suggest you try and just slow down at the beginning and don’t rush to the end. If you do end up with some extra time go back and reread the questions and make sure you did what they wanted instead of just rechecking calculations. I still make one or two but it’s better than the 5 or 6 i used to make and got me 770
