Hi, I'm a high school junior at an all girls school. Lately I've been thinking about what I'd like to study in college and I've decided that entrepreneurial studies or business operations seems most interesting. The only problem is I have no idea how to come up with a good list of from schools to visit. I started a list, but then I go over it again and end up having to start from scratch. So far though I really like schools like Elon and Providence college. I'm preppy, not very athletic, studious, but like to have fun, and would really like a school that has a good social life. Also I have all A's in my classes, I'm in one AP, but all my other classes are pretty difficult considering I'm at a college prep school. I participate in tech for theater, started a diversity club @ my school, and work 4 days a week. I'm from the north, but wouldn't mind going south, and also nothing out too far west like Cali. Any suggestions on schools I should look into??

Why not look at Babson (MA)? Over 50k/year but they need more female students.

Rhodes has some overlap in applications with Elon. Rhodes is also in the south (Memphis) and offers a business major. Preppy atmosphere, good social life. There’s a very active theater that encourages participation from non-majors. Stats are a match. It’s significantly smaller than Elon, though, with just under 2000 students.

Babson and Syracuse. SU has good FA.

Thank you so much! I’m definitely going to visit Babson, and Syracuse may be a bit too cold, but its always good to look! Are there any small schools down south that overlap Elon or Rhodes?

Furman overlaps Elon and Rhodes. My D looked at Elon and liked it but ultimately chose Furman. They are all very good.

University of Richmond might be another overlap that offers business, if you consider Virginia to be “South”. Samford University in Birmingham has a BS in business with a major in entreprenuership. It’s a good school that probably doesn’t get enough credit. We get a transfer student from Samford on occassion.

Thanks again!

@bobbyct - I heard Furman is a really good school, location wise though how does your D like it? I heard its pretty rural, is that true?

lynxinsider- University of Richmond was definitely I school I’d consider. I met with the rep from my state earlier this month, it seemed to be a beautiful school in a great area. I’d really like to be in a city down south, and Richmond seems to be that kind of town. Samford is not a school I’ve heard of, I’ll look into that. Any other good, well known schools in the Richmond area you’d suggest?
