I have been accepted to two direct admit nursing programs - Saint Louis University and Marquette. I have also been accepted at University of Wisconsin, University of Iowa and Indiana University in pre-nursing.
I am most interested in the programs at Saint Louis University and Indiana University.
Any thoughts about what would be the best program?
Thanks!

If you really want to know, here’s what you do. For some hospitals in your area, look up “careers” or “jobs” on their website and you’ll find contact info for nurses. Call and explain you’re a HS student and a future nurse, ask if you can meet with the charge nurse for coffee from one or more of the floors such as surgical, medical, etc. to talk about the career. They hire nurses, they are nurses, they can tell you based on their experience what you should do. People are usually pleased to talk to students about how to enter their career.

Obviously you want a few samples of opinion, but if you see a solid consensus emerge you’ll have your answer. And nurses will be up on the details you probably haven’t even imagined, such as any laws requiring you take certain courses to get licensed in your state (and the effect of attending an out-of-state school).

This comes from the concept of “informational interviewing” as popularized in the book “What Color is Your Parachute”, the bible of job hunting. Any edition from the last decade or so in your library is worth reading to understand this topic a bit better (they come out with a new edition yearly, but not that much changes).

here’s an example of findind a contact from what I think is a Chicago-area hospital. [Careers - Nursing at Northwestern Memorial](http://www.nmh.org/nm/careers+nursing+at+nmh)

best of luck to you; we need more nurses!
